Imposter Landlord scam

A variant on the usual Western Union scams: a prospective tenant is told by a landlord in a high demand area that the landlord has had a lot of no-shows for showings of an apartment or house. The tenants are asked to send via Western Union an amount for a deposit on the place. Then the ‘landlord’ does not show up at the property and the tenant learns that she/he has been scammed. This one appears to be going on out there. Propective tenants beware: no legitimate landlord would ask for a deposit before showing the place.
